January Full Moon

FullMoonNewWashingtonSmall

Japhy Ryder and I went back to New Washington last January to see my Mom and Step-Dad and to get Japhy trimmed up so that he would not be mistaken as a bear cub. On the way home, I got out by Geissman’s Farm and saw the giant, low-hanging full moon. Lucky for me it was farm country, and we whipped the car off to the side of the road. I have never really been able to capture a good moon photograph, mainly due to a lack of a giant zoom lens-this is probably the best one I have shot, although in person, the moon was gigantic. I would have loved to have had a tri-pod for this shot, but sometimes you do the best you can with what you have.

Hiking in January

2016-01-02 10.58.32-1

Once January rolls around in Ohio, the sun tends to remain hidden for days at at time. Yesterday was no exception. My dog and I, eager to spend some time outdoors, went hiking since the rain finally let up. This is what the weather man called a partly sunny day. It was fine by us. Anything is better than winter rain.

I went to my first MeetUp group last night. It was a group for photographers to meet each other. We walked a bit downtown after having dinner and one of the members took us on top of one of the buildings he works in. We stayed up there from dusk till the sun went completely down, looking over the city and taking photographs. This was one of the views before the sun set.

I woke up yesterday just in time to capture the sun coming up. Unfortunately, I slept in too late to put into action my original plan…to wake up earlier than the sun and go to Antrim Park to greet the sun. I am pretty sure the sun appreciated my efforts non-the-less.

Backyard Corn Fields

I grew up mostly in Mid-Ohio surrounded by fields. This is the backyard as it looks this summer. I was able to go visit and capture some images. I am going to try to do a photo series this fall on this area.
